In order to provide encouragement to its students, the Olive Tree Study has built a curriculum based on the building blocks of their faith. Olive Tree Study is an Islamic Sunday School in London that is focused on providing a sound approach to its teaching methods. Through an extensive approach to Quranic, Islamic and Arabic studies, your child at this school will be able to build a solid foundation in the Islamic faith. The curriculum here includes four lessons per day, which are described as follows:

Islamic Studies

The curriculum of Islamic studies includes Islam, Iman, and Ihsaan that further includes various subjects under each of them. In this lesson, pupils aged 5 and above are made to study Islamic educational books, covering subjects like Fikh, Aqidah, and Akhlaaq. The method of constructive play is used for primarily learning for kids below 5 years of age. It also consists of storytelling, singing Nasheed, role play and so on.

Quranic Studies

Quranic studies include memorisation and recitation in its curriculum. The memorisation and recitation are divided into four levels,  which includes Foundation, Intermediate, Higher and Advanced. The subjects covered in Kalimahm, Surahs and Dua's. The subjects included in recitation consist of Akhram, Sifaat, Qidah, and Makhraj. First, two hours of classes are devoted to the Quran. Based on the assessment, each class proceeds as per the suitable differentiation and pace. Children are monitored continuously and feedback is given to their parents. This way a child has a target to achieve and parents can get clarity on their child's progress.

Arabic Studies

Alike any good Islamic Sunday School in London, Olive Tree Study seeks to help children in speaking and understanding the Arabic Language with fluency. This is to make easier for them to access the sacred knowledge and Quran to root level. The curriculum for the Arabic Language includes reading, writing, speaking, and listening. The Arabic language is taught in the last hour of the day. The Gateway to Arabic and Madinah Arabic Reader book are given to older children for the study. These well-structured books are designed specifically to teach Arabic in a speaking environment which is non-Arabic.

Assessment

The monitoring and assessment of pupils throughout the year involve continuous teacher assessment, keeping records centrally and in the pupils’ homework diary, end of term tests and competitions.

Homework diaries are an important part of the teaching and learning methodology here. It acts as a medium of regular communication between parents and teachers with respect to the pupils’ learning progress. Besides that parent-teacher meeting is conducted throughout the year to invite parents for a one-to-one meeting with the teachers of their children. Progress reports of children are also sent to the parents during the year.
