Fitness and Healthy Nutrition Tips to Follow in Ramadan

We all rejoice in the coming of the holy month of Ramadan, with its great meanings, such as the practice of religious rites, family and charity. However, this month may be associated with a negative side, reflected in our sense of laziness and inability to maintain a daily routine during fasting. But this is not a sufficient excuse for not maintaining healthy habits through healthy eating and exercise.

Here, we are sharing some important tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle during the holy month and keeping the motivation to exercise.

Avoid the temptation of unhealthy foods

You should treat Ramadan like other months in terms of nutrition and fitness. You cannot take Ramadan as an extravagance for eating fried foods and sweets. All you have to do is to keep unhealthy foods out of your reach by not bringing them home in the first place. We, at Olive Tree Study Weekend Islamic School also recommend that you avoid going to the Ramadan tents if you cannot resist the temptations of unhealthy foods, which are abundant there.

Regardless of the prevailing beliefs, we recommend that you use the short hours of exercise before breakfast, as the body usually rearranges glucose levels and builds muscles immediately after exercise, so eating after exercise is better.

Maintain a Balanced Diet

Maintain calorie balance, this rule should be applied throughout the year but especially in Ramadan. The basic rule for maintaining a healthy body is to consume the number of calories the body is capable of burning. If you want to consume more calories, you should exercise to compensate for this increase. Use apps like lose it to help you set and monitor your diet and sports to help you reach your goal.

  • Eat brown bread instead of white bread. The two have the same calories, but the wheat bread will make you feel fuller for longer.
  • Avoid Ramadan juices such as jalab, tamarind and fruit juices, and replace them with fresh fruit.
